After *weeks* of silence from my anchor client, I finally got an email! It says “oh yeah, hi! So we aren’t going to have any work for at least the first quarter of this year and don’t know if that will change after that, but as soon as we want more content, you’ll be expected to drop whatever you’re doing and prioritize us. So maybe keep that in mind when looking for other clients to fill the gap.” (paraphrasing mine)
Obviously I’m not going to just sit around *just in case* they show up with a work assignment. But also? The expectation that I would? Like, I have too many bills for that.
Freelance life, y’all. Even the steadiest of clients can turn into jerks on a dime.
PS: If you’ve ever thought about commissioning some content or sponsoring a blog post, it looks like my calendar is wide open!
