I have decided to give myself a “cool if I do, cool if I don’t” day. This means that if I do get some work done, yay! Good for me! And if I don’t get any work done but spend the day on the couch napping and watching television? That’s okay too because it? Has been a really long week. Getting up so early every day and then trying to nap to get the rest of my eight hours gets old after a while. Plus I got a bunch of stuff done earlier this week so I’m not in any danger of falling behind.

Our week of “rise and shine” at 6 in the morning is almost over. I know that makes me sound like a spoiled brat and trust me I remember having to get up at 6:30 every morning vividly and people? That was one of the reasons I decided to do freelance work. Mornings are not really my favorite time. I understand that someday I’ll be subject to the sleeping patterns of my own kids. But that is a ways off and I reserve my right to bitch about mornings until then (and possibly after because seriously! not getting enough sleep sucks!).

Poppy has taken to stealing my cell phone when I’m not looking and playing with it and using it as a pillow for naps. I don’t get a lot of calls on the thing so I don’t mind but I do sometimes get a kick out of calling my cell phone from the house phone and watching her try to figure out where the noise is coming from. Because, internally, I am five. It is this same part of me that makes me giggle whenever I see anything having to do with towns or roads named “Butte.”

The Grey’s Anatomy season finale? Holy crap. Holy. Crap. Okay A) I really needed that cry but B) it hit a wee bit close to home. I don’t want to say why because I know there are readers who haven’t watched it yet. But when you watch it, have a soft and fluffy towel near by because the kleenex might not cut it. Of course, not all of you are big ol’ saps like me but…wow. Just. Wow.

The Numb3rs season finale is tonight!

What is it about doing laundry that just sucks out a person’s will to live? I was totally ready to take on the day this morning when I got up but then I started doing laundry and now, six lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng loads later, I have exactly zero motivation to get stuff done. Let the record show that waiting eleven days to do the laundry is never a good idea. Holy cow.

Also? I think we are both coming down with colds. I totally have that “I could go back to bed right now” droopy eyes thing and about ten minutes ago Will said “let’s go shopping for ingredients for dinner in another hour because that way we can go out and get food so we won’t be hungry before we shop.” And seriously? Even though I was all set to try my hand at homemade potato soup (a food which I would not touch when I was a kid btw), now all I want is a roast beef sandwich from Arbys. No kidding.

Finally, I can’t believe I forgot to mention Tom Cruise in yesterday’s run down of the weekend movie fest. Tom Cruise is probably the highlight of Tropic Thunder and yes, I am surprised to say that. Honestly? He is so hilarious as the production company exec that I almost want to overlook the “wow, that guy is creepier than Michael Jackson” factor and like him again. Dude’s got some comedy chops–and not the gentle real person comedy like we all know and love in Jerry Maguire, but the farcical slap on some fake hair and a paunch and dance around to hip hop while dropping f-bombs left and right comedy chops.

Oh! I can’t believe I almost forgot? I FINALLY finished my scarf! Woo! I will post a picture as soon as my face no longer has that red-eyed almost sick puffiness thing happening. I wasted no time in starting another scarf–this one will be in double stitch instead of single stitch and will be thinner. The scarf I just finished is pretty wide, but It’s meant to be more of a “fill up the empty space between the top of the coat and the face” scarf than a long and fashionable scarf.

Hey, remember when Bloglets had a regular day? I kind of miss that.

I just found a bunch of comments in my system that, for some reason, Typepad failed to notify me about. My apologies to those commentors who have probably spent the last couple of weeks thinking that I was ignoring them when, in fact, I have not. Hopefully from now on it will notify me.

For some reason I cannot get my URL to work without the www. It kills me to lose the readers who were used to finding me simply at snarke.net instead of www.snarke.net and I hope that they will realize the change soon. The Typepad instructions said to set up domain masking but now all it does is send people to a page that says "this webpage is temporarily unavailable, try again later." Arg.

I've set up my "professional" site via this typepad account and have been having some troubles getting it to work the way I want it to. I have the domain forwarded and everything while Typepad figures out why that site isn't showing up for domain mapping. That? Is kind of taking a while.

I realized that Typepad does not convert line breaks when it imports blogs, so if you try to read my archives it'll make you feel….um….there is an author who once wrote a sentence that was a page and a half long (and grammatically correct!). I can't remember who it was, but I bet reading my archives will feel a little bit like that.

Also? Our friends have arrived and are now on their way to see their concert. I like spending time with our friends but I can't help but feel a little irritated and put out and used. We noticed today that whenever they want to ask us a favor they'll send the message to Will (who has trouble saying no). When they want to ask us to do stuff together, they send the message to me. Funny, I always thought that when it came time to raise teenagers they would have been birthed from my own womb.

Today the seventh season of Scrubs is on sale at Best Buy for twenty bucks! This has nothing to do with anything else I've written but I wanted to end this post on a positive note.

I spent all of yesterday afternoon and evening moving my blog back over to Typepad and now all I want to do is sit around and play with Typepad. A lot has changed since I used this service regularly and I have been having fun poking around and learning about all of the new stuff. I've been blogging for so long that I remember a time before widgets and now Typepad has a whole widget library!

Today I went in to downtown with Will. He had a short lab class and I needed to return some stuff to the library and people, I walked a lot. I walked almost eighty blocks. EIGHTY. In three hours. And I just realized why I've been hobbling around my apartment for the last few hours feeling like all of my joints were going to suddenly explode apart. I'm getting old.

Last night I got to talk on the phone with one of my older brothers for a little over an hour and it was super fun. We don't get to talk very often and every time we talk we promise that we'll be better about calling and keeping in touch and then a few more months (or years) go by. Still though it was fun to just sit and joke around on the phone.

Tonight I watched the thirty minute Obamamercial and then part of his Floridian midnight rally and then watched his appearance on Jon Stewart and I have to say, I keep finding more and more reasons to feel good about voting for him. I know that I am making the right choice in filling in his circle in my mail in ballot (Oregonians vote by mail in ballot. It sucks. I desperately want an "I Voted" sticker). It hit me today that this will be the FOURTH time I've voted for President. This? Also makes me feel old. And proud.

Finally, I still haven't decided whether or not to do Nablopomo. I really really want to, but I am afraid of putting up a month's worth of crap. I know, though, that I need to kick start my posting again. Now that I'm back on Typepad that should be a little more fun. I love Typepad.

And look, I just brought it full circle!

Who knew that a post about Birth Control would be almost as popular as a post about getting engaged? That's kind of awesome.

Yesterday my friend Wendy, her daughter Fiona and I went for a picnic up on Mt. Tabor. For those of you who don't know the area, Mt. Tabor is a mountain. In the middle of the city. No joke. It's in the middle of South East Portland and after visiting it yesterday, I have to say that New York can suck it because New York? Might have central park, but it doesn't have a mountain right in the middle of Manhattan!

If you haven't ever been to Mt. Tabor, it's a really great part of the city. We didn't get up to the top because Fiona was in love with the playground, but the parts of the park that I saw were very pretty and I am antsy to get back up there with the new fancy schmancy camera. Maybe after the first of the month–after the rent and bills are paid and I've finally bought a camera bag.

In other news, Will is taking Auto Cad classes at the community college and the first few classes are on how to use a computer. Maybe I'm being a jerk but I thought that people who would be interested in Auto Cad classes would already know how to use a computer. Will came home indignant about having to spend forty five minutes learning how a mouse works. I feel bad for him because I know he is going out of his mind with boredom but his text messages (particularly the one he sent about halfway through tonight's class: "this must be what hell is like!") are pretty funny.

In other, other news I am having a hard time deciding if my PMS is showing up right on schedule or if someone (not you, don't worry) really is that annoying. Maybe it's a combination of the two. I thought I was doing a pretty good job of channelling my PMS energy into staying productive (this being a "gotta make the rent" week) but there is one person online who I would very much like to…well, to be honest I kind of want to roll up a newspaper and just bash him about the head with it for a few minutes. Seriously. Just the idea of whacking the dude with a rolled up newspaper is really satisfying…so maybe it is PMS, which reminds me…

When Will finally got home from class he found me sitting on the couch, laptop on lap, watching the first season of Scrubs on DVD (Netflix won't get here until tomorrow) and there was a particularly funny/awesome exchange between Jordan and Dr. Cox and I looked at Will and said "Don't you wish you knew people who talked like that in real life?" and he looked at me for a minute and then said "What are you talking about? You are like that!" And, um, is it wrong that I'm taking it as a compliment?
