So remember how I got verrrry little sleep between Sunday night and Monday? And then how I got verrrrrry little sleep between Monday and Tuesday (which made me suck down caffeine to keep going)? Well, last night we went to bed at a good hour. I tossed and turned for a little bit because seriously it was so hot in our bedroom (it turns out I had a low grade fever. Bygones) and then, THEN, just as I was about to fall asleep, someone upstairs decided to start running their water.
I’ve lived in apartments for almost my entire life. I know that when you live in apartments, you have to put up with wacky and sometimes irritating things like knowing exactly how often your neighbors flush their toilets, how long their showers are, when they fight, what kind of music they like, blah blah. I don’t get huffy over someone running a bath, even when they decide to run that bath at one in the morning.
But when they run that bath for TWO AND A HALF HOURS? Not so great. Not so likeable. And when that two and a half hours starts at one in the morning and lasts until three thirty in the morning? That makes me stabby.
The noise was just loud enough to break through any sort of falling asleep brain fuzziness and steady enough to make me wonder what the hell was taking so long and to contemplate just how awesome it would feel to punch whichever neighbor it was in the throat.
Oh yeah–have I mentioned? I have two floors worth of neighbors so I had no way of knowing exactly who the culprit was. Because trust me, if I knew exactly which neighbor it was? I would have had no problem stomping upstairs and banging on the door–even at three in the morning.
So. To recap: Sunday night-Monday morning: only a few hours of sleep. Monday night – Tuesday morning: only a few hours of sleep. Tuesday night – Wednesday morning: only a few hours of sleep.
This morning, after I finished a very important project for a client, Will convinced me to “call in sick” to my clients and spend the rest of the afternoon on the couch, vegging in front of Bones and snoozing. And then he took me to Lake Oswego to try a new Chinese food place (review: awesome AWESOME fried rice. The 7-up, however, tasted like soap) and then to get snacks. And a frosty. Because nothing makes me feel better like chocolate ice cream.
And with that, I think I am going to go curl up in my bed. Because seriously. I need to actually catch some Z’s, not just wave at them as they fly right by me!

Who runs water for 2.5 hours? That’s just weird. Hopefully they’ll quit it soon!
